Blog #3 - Creation App Mini-Lesson

    My partner and I created a mini-lesson using an engaging and interactive app that contains many fun games that teach math concepts such as addition, subtraction, sorting, geometry and more! This app is called Moose Math and you can download it for free on the app store! It is a great way to integrate technology into your lessons for young learners. 

    We chose this app to teach math to grade 1 students, where they focused on identifying familiar shapes and sorting them according to one attribute. We found that this is a great way for young students to connect with math concepts. The app prompts students through sound or by reading the instructions on their own. Another positive aspect of this app is that it encourages students to strive for the correct answer before progressing to the next activity, without making them feel discouraged or defeated in the process. We also love how it motivates each student when they complete a level as they are able to further add objects into their town!

    I really enjoyed reading your post and I also enjoyed presenting the lesson with you ! I agree that this is a great way for younger students to connect with math concepts. I also enjoy that the app encourages them to get the correct answer before progressing. The additions to their town they receive are great for encouragement to keep going !

  Recently, I created a Twitter profile, which had me thinking about how it could be used as a dynamic tool in the classroom to enhance student learning. This platform could act as a focal point for important announcements to students and parents, interactive learning, and stimulating debates. Students can actively participate in discussions, share resources, and have Q&A sessions by creating a feeling of community through the use of hashtags that are exclusive to their courses. I would take advantage of Twitter's many capabilities to promote peer cooperation, reflective practice and the distribution of useful materials. Through a thoughtful integration of Twitter, I could create a more interactive and connected learning environment that prepares students for the challenges of our digital age.
