Educational technology being used in your 3rd year practicum placement?
In my Grade 4 practicum at Fireside School, digital devices play a prominent role in the learning environment. Chromebooks are the primary tools employed by students for various learning activities and assignments. While iPads are utilized occasionally, particularly for photography, their use is more prevalent among younger grades due to their user-friendly nature. In addition to these devices, my mentor teacher frequently employs a projector to visually guide students through learning activities and to present custom-made Powerpoint presentations for her lessons. Furthermore, my mentor teacher effectively utilizes Google Classroom, a platform that not only keeps parents informed about classroom activities but also offers additional resources and activities for students who require extra support.

Kya,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your first blog posting. Google classroom is a great platform to foster communication with students and parents and I'm glad you brought that up in your post. I like that you mentioned that your mentor teacher uses her own creative powerpoint slides for her students. I think thats a really unique and creative way to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom everyday. I wonder what safety precautions we can take as teachers to help implement safe use of the internet and I appreciate that you brought that question up.
A question to think about might be: How much technology is too much technology? What is the limit in use of technology in the classroom?
Cheers,
